General Information
The physics program at Black Hills State University
is operated by the Department of Science in the
College of Arts and Sciences. We provide lower
division courses to satisfy requirements
for general education and major programs in the
physical sciences and mathematics.
We also provide a small number of upper division
courses that can be applied to a minor in physics
or a major in composite physical science.
Community service is performed primarily through
public astronomical viewing events using
Black Hills State University's 12-inch Meade LX200
telescope.
We are actively engaged in research and encourage
student involvement in research projects.
Astronomy Club
This university-recognized
student organization is open to all members of the Northern Hills
community. Activities include public star-parties and
building and developing astronomical equipment.
